Wally Half and Half

Joel's "Perch Clouser", Thread; red 6/0 Body; silver sparkle braid Back and Belly ; white bucktail, rainbow flash, orange, green, olive bucktail, chartruese prism eyes.

Well I looked all over for another perch clouser and could not find another exactly the same I usally tie up a half dozen at a time and they tend to change a little over time but going by my memory it seems red 6/0 thread to tie in the reel eyes then tie in some silver sparkle braid for the body let the red thread bobbin hang, now start a bobbin in the front of the eyes with 6/0 white thread and tie in some white bucktail on top of the eyes, pull the white bucktail back to the body and tie it down with the red thread whip finnish with a piece of thread like you do for winding on rod guides(I saw this in fly tyer magazine last spring) turn the fly upside down and fold in a half dozen sternds of rainbow flash than stack a few orange, green, olive bucktail, whip finnish apply chartruese prism eyes.take a pantone pen and put 5 or6 vertical stripes on the dark hair and corlor the down half of the head with the same pen. This is the only fly I ever caught a walleye on I usally catch Pike and bass on these now if a guy from southern New Mexico can catch walleyes on flys surly a man in Canada should be able to connect with a few.

 'Frankie-Boy Variant'.

here is the recipe of the 'Frankie-Boy Variant'.

Hook: Stinger Hook, Sz. 2 to 8 Thread: Uni, 0/3, lime green Tail: Golden flashabou, on both sides one yellow and one green saddle hackle Hackle: Yellow Body: Spun deer hair, rear 2/3 natural, front: bleached Eyes: 3D Epoxy eyes.

Tying instructions: After the base wrap tie in the flashabou at the hook's bend. Add the 2 yellow feathers and the 2 green ones. Should be bend outside. I form a little bulk at the tie-in point as an anchor for the spinning of the hair. Tie in the yellow hackle and wind a collar at the hook's bend. Using a piece of wire tie them down to the shank. This prevent the hackle-fibers from damage during the hair trimming process. Spinn the natural and the bleached hair and trimm it to shape. Remove the wire . Glue the 3D epoxy eyes on. I used a single component resin. The resin should soak at the eyes in the hair.

The pattern was originally developed by Micjael Jensen and published in his book 'Mit der Fliege'. Don't know, if there is a english translation.

Micah's Clouser

Dan Gober's

Micah's Clouser Hook mustad 3366 size 2 thread black 3/0 or 6/0 med brass eyes Tail Chart. Marabou Boby Chat. chennile Wing sea blue or chart superhair I recieved the first copy of the fly in a swap with an Australian friend. Originally it was an Austaralian Bream Fly, but it has taken several species there. Works extremely well on Smallmouth bass, why not Walleye. There's something about the body and tail on this clouser.

Tying instructons: Tie in the lead eyes about 3/16 inch from the eye with figure eight wraps and secure them with a drop of super glue. advance the thread to just before the bend of the hook. Tie in the tail of chartreuse mylar. Then tie in the chartreuse chemille pipe cleaner. wind the thread forward to a point about 1/8 inch behind the lead eyes. Wrap the chartreuse chenille pipe cleaner around the shaft of the hook to form the body. Tie the pipe cleaner down with several wraps of thread and trim off the excess pipe cleaner.. Tie in the wings of chartreuse saddle hackle, splayed along either side of the body. Tie in some fire orange ice chenille at the same tie in point as the wings. Advance the thread to just behind the eye of the hook. Form the head by wrapping the ice chenille behind the eyes and around the eyes and infron of the eyes. Tie the ice chenill off with the thread and trim off the excess ice chenille. Finish the head by tying off the thread withg either half hitches or a whip finish. Coat the thread at the head with head cement.

This fly is a fly essentially designed to fish the Tittabawassee River in Michigan. It imitates the most popular and effective walleye lure used there, an orange leadhead jig equipped with a plastic chartreuse plastic curly tail grub. The orange and chartreuse combination of colors is used since the visibility in the Tittabawassee River is often very limited, the river being stained to muddy about year round.

Continue wrapping pearl tinsel chenille to just behind head area. Tie off and clip excess. 6. Tie on clump of gray marabou for top wing. 7. Form head. Whip finish.
