Above you can see my custom built rotary vice. Didn't have the $$ to bye a commercial one so I made my own.
A lot of people have shown an interest when I mentioned that I also made reels. Below you can look at 3 of the prototypes. They are each hand made and fitted out of Mesquite and Osage Orange. Al Photos courtesy of Tony Spezio, thank you Tony for your honest and forthright opinions. I will take them to heart as I continue to make finer reels and other projects.
Left to right you have the first reel, all Mesquite, #2 and 3 Osage bodies and Mesquite spools.
This is a detail shot of the handle, each spool has a trademark pierced trout or fish ranging from 1/4 to 5/8th inch long. As each of the reels are unique due to the choice of wood and grain, each fish is unique as well. There is no way to have 2 identical reels, each is a one of a kind.
This is the very first one, from here I started working on obvious improvements. At least I proved to myself it could be done and what it took to actually do it.
I endeavor to improve with each reel, adding new ideas and designs to keep them unique.
